Air India enters Switzerland with non-stop Delhi-Zurich flight; catch schedule, frequency, launch date, other key details

Air India on Friday announced a non-stop service between Delhi and Zurich that will mark its entry in Switzerland and take the total number of cities on its network in mainland Europe to seven. The airline will operate the Delhi-Zurich flights with its two-class configured Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, according to a press release.

Here are key things to know about this news:

Launch date: Air India said the non-stop service will start on June 16, 2024.

Frequency: Air India will operate its flights on the new European route on four days every week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Schedule: The flight AI151 will depart from Delhi at 1405 hrs (2:05 pm) to arrive in Zurich at 1915 hrs (7:15 pm). The flight AI152 will depart Zurich at 2050 hrs (8:50 pm) to arrive in Delhi at 0805 hrs (8:05 am) the next day.

The airline said its schedule will enable travellers to conveniently connect to its flights from Delhi to destinations such as Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Ho Chi Minh City, Kathmandu, Melbourne, Phuket, Singapore, and Sydney.

The service will provide travellers in Switzerland as well as those in southern Germany and western Austria with a non-stop option to travel to Delhi, and onward to destinations across its route network, particularly in the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia, it added.

“With over 250 Swiss companies operating in India, hundreds of Indian companies in Switzerland, and a growing Indian diaspora of nearly 18,000, these flights will cater to a strong demand for business and leisure travel in both directions,” said Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer, Air India.
