An international group of Conservative Mennonites will host a conference on Anabaptism in Switzerland to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the first adult baptisms in 1525 in Zurich.
The gathering Jan. 21-23 at Wyssachen Reformed Church is being planned by a committee from Nationwide Fellowship Churches and the Conservative Mennonite Church of Ontario. Presented by congregations in Canada, the U.S., England and Denmark, the event is expected to register about 250 participants.
Topics will include “Anabaptist Beginnings in Zurich, the Seedbed of the Reformation,” “Bernese Anabaptists: Beginning, Growth, Persecution and Emigration” and “Christian Families: A Home Environment that Nourishes the Souls of Our Children.”
Off-site activities will include visits to nearby Trachselwald Castle and Emmental Valley ancestral homesteads, along with self-guided walking tours of Zurich.
