Tuesday horse racing betting tips from Ed Quigley: Best picks at Taunton – Feb 6

Top Tipster and Broadcaster, Ed ‘Longshot Ted’ Quigley has been in great form and is back with his best bets for Tuesday’s action at Lingfield…

Ted’s bets for Tuesday, February 6:

Find the following picks for the Tuesday races at Lingfield . Place your best on our highest rated horse racing betting sites:

  • Lingfield 2.25 – Be Aware – bet with bet365
  • Lingfield 3.00 – Whydah Gally each-way  – bet with talkSPORT BET

Lingfield 2.25 – Be Aware

Harry and Dan Skelton team up with Newbury Maiden Hurdle winner BE AWARE. He was particularly strong in the market on debut last month, but travelled well, put in a nice round of jumping, and inside the closing stages found plenty for pressure to win as a 11/1 poke.

For one so inexperienced, connections would have been over the moon, and he looks to have every chance of backing it up in this company. Obviously he has to carry a penalty for that success, but this race doesn’t appear to have as much depth to it, and he can stamp his authority in the field here.

Dominic’s Fault looks the biggest danger on paper for the in-form Olly Murphy team, but he scraped home in a weak assignment at Leicester and will need to up his game here to get the better of the 5-year-old son of Martaline. Trip and ground look absolutely spot on for him and he gets the nod from me.

Lingfield 3.00 – Whydah Gally each-way

We are heading over just shy of 3m5f here for this stamina-zapping engagement. Movethechains is obviously a Lingfield specialist, and has to be feared for the Gary Moore team, but he has a big ask off top weight whilst trying to defy a mark of 124.

Towards the bottom of the weights, WHYDAH GALLY makes each-way appeal for the Brendan Powell and Joe Tizzard combination. He is unexposed over this trip, but is very comfortable on Soft ground, and has a good record at Lingfield on his CV.

The 8-year-old is yet to win over fences, but off a mark of 108 is starting to look well handicapped on the peak of his hurdling exploits, so cannot be ignored here from an each-way perspective.

This marathon event can really suit the lightly-raced sort and I can see him running a big race here.

Lingfield 4.10 – Clonakilty

Olly Murphy has his string in red-hot form at present, and his lightly-raced representative, CLONAKILTY, is an individual who put in an eye-catching performance at Leicester last time out on his second chase start.

It was his first start after a wind-operation, and with the application of the tongue-tie, he put in a much better display to run on into third of that 2m event. He should have gained a great deal of confidence from that outing, and with the petrol he had left in the tank inside the closing stages it wouldn’t be a surprise if there is plenty of improvement in the locker now stepping up in trip.

Eased to a mark of 109, he is starting to look well handicapped, so has to be taken seriously with the returning Sean Bowen in the saddle chomping at the bit.

This is a competitive heat, but it can go the way of the Wilmcote handler here. Ben Pauling’s Couldbeaweapon looks another who should improve for the extra distance.

Don’t forget Ed will be back on Saturday as he serves up his best bets for what should be a scintillating weekend of action!
